President Joe Biden’s dog has been accused of attacking seven White House staff members including Secret Service guards in his four months in office.
Commander, Biden’s one-year-old German shepherd, is being accused of aggressive behaviour despite being brought in to replace Major the President’s previous dog who was given to family friends after yet more biting incidents.
According to Freedom of Information emails released to conservative group Judicial Watch, the White House physician’s office referred a Secret Service officer to hospital for treatment after the President’s dog bit down on their arm and thigh.
Records show Commander also broke the skin of a different Secret Service member’s hand and arm weeks later after the president unleashed him outside the White House after First Family’s movie night.
The New York Post also reports the following month, the dog bit the back of a security technician at Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home.
The beloved pooch was in isolation with the US President when he tested positive for Covid-19.
He shared a picture of the pair on the residence balcony on Twitter with the post “Took some calls this morning with man’s best co-worker.”
Commander was brought in soon after the First Family had to give up their adopted rescue dog Major, who bit a Secret Service agent and a National Park Service employee during his stint at the White House.
After in-depth consultations with animal behaviour specialists and vets, it was thought that Major would live a happier life in a quieter environment. He is now said to be living with Biden family friends.
According to CNN’s sources, Major was well-known for his “agitated” behaviour which includes “charging”, barking and jumping at members of staff in the White House.
The cluster bombs are in Ukrainian hands and being deployed in the field as part of Kyiv’s battle against Russia, White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said on Thursday.
The bombs are banned in more than 100 countries. They typically release large numbers of smaller bomblets that can kill indiscriminately over a wide area. Those that fail to explode pose a danger for decades.
