White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre revealed on Friday that President Joe Biden recently had a 'verbal check-in' with his doctor, contradicting her previous statement that the president had not undergone any medical exams since his February physical.
In a closed-door meeting with over 20 Democratic governors, Biden disclosed that he had a conversation with his doctor, Kevin O’Connor, regarding his cold symptoms. Jean-Pierre clarified that this interaction was not a formal medical examination but rather a discussion, with the doctor deeming a physical examination unnecessary.
Initially, Jean-Pierre had dismissed inquiries about Biden's health, attributing his symptoms to a common cold. She emphasized that the president had not been examined by a doctor at that time.
Highlighting the standard protocol for US presidents, Jean-Pierre noted that Biden has constant access to a medical unit for round-the-clock care. This practice is consistent with the support provided to previous presidents.
