Premier League transfer news: Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong to Man Utd, Ronaldo to Chelsea latest and more

The transfer window continues to hot up as clubs begin their pre-season preparations.

Manchester United couldn't have wished for a much better result in their opening pre-season game after thrashing Liverpool 4-0 and they look set to be busy on the transfer front in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Spurs kick-off their pre-season with a friendly against a K-League XI in South Korea.

Manchester United remain confident of signing both Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong, according to Sky Sports News.

The Red Devils are hoping to sign Eriksen on a free transfer, while they remain in talks with De Jong's representatives.

United have submitted a lucrative offer to Eriksen and have an agreement in place with Barcelona for De Jong's transfer fee.

Chelsea prioritise Lewandowski move over Ronaldo

Chelsea have made a decision over their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to reports, the Blues are prioritising a swoop for Robert Lewandowski and will only go after the five-time Ballon d'Or winner should the Pole elect to move to Barcelona.

So that's Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich all out of the running for the time being.

Nathan Collins moves to Wolves

Nathan Collins has joined Wolves from Burnley for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £20.5m.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the club.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars said: “We’ve looked at Nathan for a while and admired him, so we’re delighted to bring him to the football club.

"He’s a very talented young man – he’s only 21, has played international football and had a good season last year with Burnley.

"We think we’ve signed a player with a lot of potential, as well as being a very good footballer now."

Josh Cullen joins Burnley on three-year deal

Josh Cullen has joined the Championship outfit from Anderlecht on a three year deal.

Cullen, 26, has made the switch in a deal believed to be worth less than €4m and it marks a swift reunion with Vincent Kompany, who left Anderlecht for Burnley this summer.

A key figure for Stephen Kenny at international level, Cullen moved to Belgium in October 2020 and was effectively an ever-present for former Manchester City star Kompany.

“We are delighted to welcome Josh to the squad," reacted Kompany.

"He’s a hard-working and brave player, that will give everything for the team and the club.

"Josh is an intelligent midfielder, who is good on the ball and will help improve our side."

Shane Long holds talks with Reading

Shane Long is set to join Jeff Hendrick at Reading in the coming days.

The Ireland striker was at the Royals’ training ground on Tuesday afternoon to hold talks with head of football Mark Bowen, in a bid to finalise his return to the Madejski Stadium.

The pair worked together before at Southampton, where Bowen worked as assistant manager for 10 months in 2018.

Long became a free agent this summer when the Saints confirmed the end to his eight-year spell at St Mary’s.

The 35-year-old spent six years at Reading between 2005 and 2011, scoring 54 goals in 203 appearances.
