Premier League to play VAR audio of incidents on TV show this week

Premier League fans will be given a chance to hear VAR discussions between officials in a new TV programme featuring referees' chief Howard Webb.

The first episode of Match Officials: Mic'd Up will air on Sky Sports and TNT Sports at 8pm on Wednesday.

The show will aim to explain refereeing decisions using match footage and previously unreleased audio. It follows a trial in May, when Webb went through a series of incidents, explained the rationale for decisions and played out discussion between match officials and the VAR base at Stockley Park.

Webb has committed to sharing the VAR audio on a regular basis this season, initially monthly. He will be joined on the programme by Michael Owen.

There have been three high-profile errors so far this season, including the decision not to disallow Manchester City's second goal against Fulham on Saturday for offside. VAR also cancelled Arsenal's penalty against Manchester United on Sunday.
