Premier League set to confirm major broadcast change that will impact Everton and Liverpool

The Premier League are set to undergo a major review of their broadcast rights strategy by offering live televised coverage of every Sunday match from the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

As per Mail Sport, this is so that top-flight chiefs can offer an increased 270 matches per season - up from the current 200 matches per season. It would also see a larger variety of kick-off times throughout the day, ranging from midday to 7pm.

The move would also result in an increased number of fixtures that take place on Friday and Monday evenings.

Ultimately this is to provide a more appealing offer so that broadcasters will make higher offers during the round of bids to take control of the Premier League's TV rights between 2024 and 2027.

The current deal is worth £5 billion over three years, and was agreed in 2018 before being extended without another auction during the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will be one major benefit to some clubs, namely those who occupy Europa League - like Liverpool currently - or Europa Conference League spots.

They would experience a major cash boost due to the fact the league would have to facilitate their participation in continental competition by moving their following fixtures to Sunday. This would mean they'd have two televised matches in four days, bagging £1 million-per-league match based off current facilities fees payments.

Ahead of the next TV rights cycle, it is expected that usual messers Sky Sports and TNT Sport (rebranded from BT Sport) will launch major bids, whilst streaming services Amazon, Apple TV and Disney+ are maintaining interest.
