Premier League rival told to take advantage of 'stupid' Chelsea transfer decision amid £60m bid

Everton have been told to take advantage of Todd Boely's willingness to sign Anthony Gordon as Chelsea push to sign a forward this summer. The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Thomas Tuchel looks to bolster his frontline.

football.london understand that the Blues have had two bids in the region of £40million and £45million rejected for Gordon's services, with the asking price said to be around £50million. Boehly, the west Londoners' interim sporting director, is understood to want to include a handful of players in a potential deal in order to reach the Toffees' full valuation.

It's said that Frank Lampard holds an interest in the likes of Michy Batshuyai, Armando Broja and Billy Gilmour. football.london also understands that Tottenham Hotspur are long admirers of the Everton winger, but Chelsea are currently leading the race as it stands.

With the summer transfer window set to slam shut at the end of the month, Gordon is seemingly eager to swap Merseyside for west London. According to The Athletic, the youngster has told Everton and Lampard that he wants to join Chelsea, with Champions League qualification a key incentive.

The report adds that the Toffees are aware that the Blues are ready to table a £60million bid - of which £10million is payable via add-ons - for Gordon. It's said that Everton want to keep their talisman, but former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has told Lampard's side to cash in before the ship sails.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan sent Everton a message: "Sell him. Sell him, cash in on him. Brighton took £62million for [Marc] Cucurella. If Chelsea are stupid enough to be the latest incarnation of 'Johnny Splatter Cash', let them pay for him.

"Go and get the £60million, get it on the nail. I think most Evertonians will look at that with a degree of disappointment but realise it's good business, but you want it spent back on the team.

"It's getting into the territory of significant levels of money, which make it almost ridiculous- this player is not a £60million footballer," Jordan added. "If you are going to get £60m for him and you'd going to make Chelsea pay it on the money, on the nail, without paying it on the drip, which they tend to do as a matter of course, then bang you've got some power to be able to go out there yourself."

"If the player wants to go, let him go. He can go to Chelsea, and he can potentially, potentially, if he believes this is his opportunity, he can sit in the same position as people like Steve Sidwell and Danny Drinkwater sat in. Because there is no given, he hasn't learnt his trade yet, and he hasn't earnt the opportunity for 60 million quid.

"But Todd Boehly and his team, and I've been critical of Gary Neville pushing back on the argument that he makes, but if they are so desperate to spend ridiculous amounts of money, then you'd be bloody foolish not to take it."

Then, when asked about the fee Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay, Jordan said: "Anthony Gordon for 60 million quid?! What?! I mean, Haaland went for 51m quid. Ok that's because someone protected his contract and put it in a situation where the player was in control by having a release clause.

"60 million quid for Anthony Gordon?! Send him in a cab quick before somebody actually wakes up and smells the coffee. 60 million quid?!"
