Burnley midfielder faces lengthy spell on the sidelines
Burnley midfielder Ashley Westwood faces a long spell out after suffering a horror injury that left some West Ham players close to tears. The 32-year-old suffered a suspected dislocated and fractured ankle in the 1-1 draw at the London Stadium after an innocuous challenge with Hammers forward Nikola Vlasic.
Declan Rice quickly alerted medics, while Vlasic and Aaron Cresswell looked distraught as they realised the severity of the injury.
Westwood was given oxygen during nine minutes of treatment on the pitch before being placed in an ambulance and taken to hospital.
Clarets interim boss Mike Jackson said: "He's gone to hospital and we're waiting for an update. We're hoping he's OK, our thoughts are with him. You could see it wasn't good from the reaction of the players. He looked distraught, but fingers crossed, we hope it's OK.
"When you see Declan Rice come over and say it's not good, you know it's not. The lad himself put his hand up, and he doesn't usually go down. It could be the end of his season, but there is a squad here ready to play. Josh Brownhill came in and has done really well. They reacted well from that, they are a good group."
The shocking injury marred a battling display from Burnley, who took the lead through a Wout Weghorst header moments after Westwood had gone off.
But Maxwel Cornet missed a penalty to double the lead in first-half stoppage time and instead they were pegged back by Tomas Soucek's bundled finish in the 74th minute.
In fact, Burnley were hanging on at the end, with goalkeeper Nick Pope twice denying Michail Antonio and pulling off a stunning save to keep out Issa Diop's header.

Sadio Mane makes quadruple claim
Forward Sadio Mane believes Liverpool have the squad to win an unprecedented quadruple, even though he admits there is still plenty of work to be done.
The Senegal international was deservedly named man of the match in the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City, not only for his two goals in the game but for an all-round performance which was one of his best for the club.
Victory kept alive the dream of winning all four trophies this season, with the Carabao Cup already in the bag, an FA Cup final appearance secured, a Champions League last-four tie against Villarreal to come and only a one-point deficit to make up in the title race on Pep Guardiola's side.
"I think it would be early to talk about winning four trophies, but for sure I think we have to fight for it because we have the team to fight for it and we will do everything possible to go for it," said Mane.
Following a couple of 2-2 draws in the league, Jurgen Klopp's side finally got the better of their main rivals after a pulsating first half at Wembley blew away their opponents , who were 3-0 down at the break.
City eventually pulled it back to 3-2 but left it too late to force an equaliser. However, the manner of their comeback and their continued excellence in the Premier League means Mane believes they remain the team to beat.
David De Gea's Manchester United concern
David De Gea's delight at Manchester United's "massive" win in the race for Champions League qualification came with a warning that they are still not performing well enough to finish in the top four.
Last weekend's embarrassing 1-0 loss at struggling Everton left the seventh-placed Red Devils six points off the pace and Ralf Rangnick admitting it would be "very difficult" to reach European football's top table.
But the stars aligned on Saturday as Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick spared United's blushes and secured a 3-2 win against spirited Norwich as top-four rivals Tottenham and Arsenal suffered shock defeats.
Those results injected new life into the Red Devils' hopes but De Gea is not getting ahead of himself after a poor display against the league's worst side and Tuesday's trip to title-chasing Liverpool looming large.
"Until the last second it was very stressful," the United goalkeeper said. "We were 2-0 up against Norwich so we cannot lose the control of the game. We started giving chances away, they score at the end of the first half so that's always tough but I think we need to control more the games, especially at home against Norwich. But I think they played a great game.
"At the end we fight until the end, good spirit from the team and three great goals from Cristiano. It's a massive three points. We're still there fighting for the top four but for sure we need to keep improving because I think it's not enough if we keep playing like this."
