Premier League explain why Everton were denied penalty against Man City after VAR check

The Premier League have confirmed that the VAR didn't believe there was a "clear error" as Everton were denied a penalty against Man City.

Late in the game at Goodison Park on Saturday evening, the ball bounced up inside the visiting area and seemed to strike Rodri on the arm.

On-field official Paul Tierney waved away the Blues' strong claims for a spot kick, with the decision later being sent to VAR.

Chris Kavanagh back at Stockley park reviewed the footage multiple times, and it's understood he didn't feel there was enough "conclusive evidence" to reverse the decision.

Guidance from the Premier League confirmed that the VAR didn't believe there was a clear error for what was a subjective decision.

Everton were eventually beaten by Man City after a battling performance at Goodison, with Phil Foden's second half strike deciding the match.
