Brendan Rodgers is hopeful Youri Tielemans will be convinced to sign a new contract at Leicester City. Newcastle United are one of a host of sides linked to the Belgian international who is set to become a free agent next summer.
Tielemans has resisted extending his contract at the King Power Stadium for the last two years, and the midfielder is expected to seal a lucrative free transfer in the summer. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.
January provides the final opportunity for Leicester to recoup any cash from a potential sale. Newcastle were tipped to make a move in the closing days of the summer window, but the club-record deal for Alexander Isak proved to be the Magpies final incoming of the window.

Tieleman's contract status and Premier League experience could make the midfielder an attractive option for Eddie Howe to consider, either in January or next summer. However, Rodgers has stressed he is still keen for the former AS Monaco star to extend his stay with the Foxes.
He told LeicestershireLive: “He’s been a fantastic professional for us, even though he’s in the situation with his contract, he’s never wavered with his mentality and what he gives to the team
“Youri provides the team with a great know-how in the game. He’s a wonderful player to work with. I’ll just continue to work and develop his game while he’s here, however long that is. I’d love him to sign another deal and continue his journey here. We’ll see in the coming months.”
