Whatever you think of Chelsea owner Todd Boehly's idea to create a Premier League 'All-Star' game between North and South clubs, you can't deny it has kicked off a fiery debate.
Boehly, co-owner of the LA Dodgers baseball team, completed his takeover of Chelsea in the summer and set about making his mark in the transfer window with over £270million of new signings. Now the US tycoon has set his sights on potentially reshaping the English game, hoping that the Premier League "takes a little bit of a lesson from American sports" and pits the best players from around the top flight against each other in a money-spinning match that he predicts could be worth $200m (£173m) based on Major League Baseball estimates.
While critics have suggested that such a match would be lucrative for those rich few at the very top of the game, Boehly argued such an approach could raise valuable resources for those further down the pyramid. Jurgen Klopp has already given the idea short shrift, with the Liverpool manager suggesting fans may not like to see their players become team-mates with stars from rival clubs - and also pointed to a packed fixture schedule making such a game difficult to arrange.
But while fans in England may generally be opposed to the idea in principle, Boehly is clearly thinking of the Premier League's global audience - and the riches that could follow - if it became a reality. So while there are plenty of issues in the way, working on the assumption that you should never doubt a billionaire's ambition, Mirror Football has picked two provisional squads - one North, and one South - based on current form and past performances... and we want to know what you think in our All-Star survey below.
