Pregnant Sam Faiers says she hugely regrets ever getting a tattoo and having her belly button pierced – which she says has mutated during her current pregnancy.
The 31-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star had some ink added to her body – in a very intimate area – when she was just a teenager.
While a belly button piercing she also got as a teen has stretched during her current pregnancy as she prepares to give birth to her third child with 33-year-old boyfriend Paul Knightley.
Opening up about her past choices, Sam says she wishes she had listened to her mother who always preached against getting tattoos and belly button piercings to both her and her 32-year-old sister Billie.
Revealing all on The Sam & Billie Show Podcast, Sam said: “I actually have a tattoo. I rebelled when I was younger. It’s below my bikini line so no one would ever see it. It’s really hidden.
“It’s a star. And, honestly, to the listeners, it’s really pathetic.”
Sam went on to explain that her mum, Suzanne, warned her against getting tattoos and piercings when she was young.
Sam said: “I think when I was younger, I think I was 17, mum was like; ‘I don’t want you having tattoos. Don’t get your belly button pierced. You’ll regret it when you’re older.’
“What did I do? Get my belly button pierced and got a tattoo. And I’ve regretted it! Especially after having three children.”
She went on: “This time around I really feel my belly button piercing has, like, stretched. I’m hoping that doesn’t look too bad when the belly goes back.”
Admitting defeat, she added: “Mum was right. Listen to your parents!”
Her older sister Billie said she was surprised that Sam had ever gone to a tattooist – and explained her own surprise that she hadn’t get any tattoos herself.
Billie said: “You done that as a rebellious thing, didn’t you? I think because mum said don’t do it. And you went and done it. And I didn’t though. Which was unusual. Because I was the more rebellious one.”
Sam said: “I think because tattoos generally aren’t my thing.”
She went on to explain that her two young children; six-year-old son Paul Jr and four-year-old daughter Rosie, have noticed her rebellious tattoo – and explained she plans to have it lasered off once she welcomes her new baby.
Sam said: “Paul and Rosie when they see it, they say; ‘You’ve got a star on you!’ And I’m like ‘I know.’
“I keep meaning to get it removed but I think I’m worried about getting it removed and if it hurts.”
Billie agreed, saying: “Especially that area as well. It’s quite sensitive.”
But sounding determined, Sam added: “I think I am gonna do it. After this baby I’m just going to have it removed. Because I don’t really like it and it’s just pointless. So silly.”
