Kate Ferdinand has broken her silence following a suspected terrifying security scare on her home.
Pregnant Kate and husband Rio were said to have experienced a security scare at their lavish home on Friday night, it has been reported.
The couple didn't address the incident over the weekend, but Kate, 31, appeared on Lorraine on Monday morning.
She told host Lorraine her family were "all safe and well" before she added: "Thank you for asking."
Former Manchester United footballer Rio owns a luxury property in the Home Counties, where he lives with his four children and wife Kate.
Speaking to the MailOnline, a source claimed "there was a security incident at the address on Friday" and "criminal investigation is underway".
Former TOWIE star Kate, who is set to welcome her second child with Rio into the world very soon, took to her Instagram the following day.
She shared her "very loud Saturday" making smoothies with her youngest Cree and step-children – not acknowledging the security scare online.
Kate met BT Sports pundit Rio through mutual friends while holidaying in Dubai in late 2016 – over a year on from the death of Rio's wife Rebecca Ellison in May 2015, who died after a short battle with breast cancer.
After confirming their relationship in April 2017, Kate quit her role on TOWIE to focus on her romance with Rio and his three children with his late wife Rebecca Ellison; Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 11.
Rio and Kate have since welcomed a son named Cree in December 2020 and live as a happily blended family together. Kate and Rio are expecting the couple's second child together.
Kate has now opened up about how her step children assured her it would be fine if she accidentally made reference to being their mother.
She explained to the Happy Place podcast: "Sometimes I’m ‘Mummy Kate’.
"But the other day I found myself going ‘come here to Mummy’, and Tia’s there and I go ‘oh sorry’.
"Tia said ‘Kate, it’s fine, I’m OK if you say mummy. You don’t have to say Mummy Kate. It doesn’t bother me’."
The reality TV star also shared an extract of her book, How To Build A Family, with The Sun and wrote: "Although I’m not their biological mum, I still call Lorenz, Tate and Tia my kids. With Cree, I am a mum of four. I have four children.
"If you suggest I have one, I will correct you. If you treat one differently to the other three, I will have a problem.
"I believe all four of the children should be treated equally."
