Jorgie Porter has excitedly revealed the gender of her unborn baby as she prepared to give birth to her first child. The Hollyoaks actress announced she was pregnant back in June with fiancé Ollie Piotrowski.
She posted an adorable Instagram video showing the couple's hands and their pet Doberman's paws pulling away to reveal a baby scan. Jorgie spoke of 'hopeful beginnings' as the news came six months after she told the devastating news that she had suffered a tragic miscarriage with quadruplets.
And now Jorgie and Ollie have said they are "thrilled" as they announced they are expecting a baby boy. The 34-year-old actress, known for her role as Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, is due to give birth in December, a year after from the couple’s engagement.
Sharing the news in Hello! magazine, the couple said having a "healthy baby was a dream come true" as they spoke of their heartbreak after a number of miscarriages. Jorgie, 34, from Eccles, told the magazine: "We’re thrilled to reveal that we’re expecting a baby boy."
"Ollie and I didn’t mind either way, of course. All we wanted was a baby,” she added. He’s certainly very active, and I can feel him doing somersaults and backflips. It’s incredible to think what we’ve created."
Property developer Ollie, 33, described their emotion during the routine ultrasound scan after miscarriages over the past year. He said: "We’d been through so much to reach this point and had learnt to take nothing for granted. Just to have a healthy baby was a dream come true."
Last August, the couple discovered during their 14-week scan that they had lost the quadruplets they had conceived naturally and in February they learnt of their second miscarriage at six weeks into the pregnancy – on the day of their engagement party. Jorgie said the news was "devastating", adding: "But I felt we had to go through with the party as we were in a room full of friends and family who love us.
"It was so hard not telling anyone, but we knew we’d have their support when we told them later.” The soap star, who has also competed on Dancing On Ice and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, added: "We’ve learnt to appreciate every moment and after our experience over the past year, Ollie and I have become stronger than ever.
"Now we can’t wait to share that love with our little one." Ollie then gushed over his wife-to-be: "She’s so caring and nurturing, and she’ll be a super-fun mum."
The loved-up couple are currently enjoying a 'babymoon' in Mykonos. On Saturday, Jorgie took to Instagram with a video of herself parading her blossoming baby bump in the beach. The soap star looked stunning in a white bikini with an added sun hat. "The beach life chose me #preggolife #babymoon #bumplife," she captioned the string of snaps.
Last week she shared sweet photos and video clips of herself heading out for lunch with her smiling fiance. She drew compliments as she posed in a leaf patterned sundress and wide-brimmed hat as she showed off her growing bump in a bathroom selfie during their lunch date.
Hollyoaks favourite Jorgie moved her castmates to tears with the joyous news that she was pregnant. "Hopeful beginnings …" Jorgie, who has played bubbly Theresa since 2008, captioned the super-sweet video. The couple, who celebrated their engagement in February at Morley's Hall, Astley, found love in 2020.
Sharing a selfie with her new fiance, the owner of Transpire Clothing, and showing off her glistening engagement ring, captioning it: "OMG." Ollie popped the question after she was sent on a treasure hunt of 12 photo clues documenting their love story, each captioned with a handwritten memory and a final clue that led her to a lakeside chalet.
