Predictions for Commanders vs. Cowboys, Week 4

The Washington Commanders badly need a win ahead of their Week 4 contest against the Dallas Cowboys. However, Dallas enters the game riding high on a two-game winning streak with backup Cooper Rush at quarterback in place of the injured Dak Prescott.

Rush will start again Sunday, and the Cowboys should get wide receiver Michael Gallup back for the first time this season. Gallup and CeeDee Lamb, along with tight end Dalton Schultz and running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, mean Rush will have his full complement of weapons.

The Commanders are coming off a 24-8 loss to the Eagles, where quarterback Carson Wentz was sacked nine times. Now, Washington’s offensive line faces the Cowboys, who lead the NFL in sacks.

Who wins?

Commanders Wire makes their picks for Week 4:

Conventional logic says the Cowboys, who lead the NFL in sacks, face a Washington offensive line that has allowed the second most sacks in the NFL and will sack Wentz 10 times. However, things rarely happen that way. Surely, Washington offensive coordinator Scott Turner will have a plan to slow down the Dallas pass rush.

Ultimately, the Commanders will protect Wentz better, but the Cowboys’ defense is legit. Washington’s defense has a better outing, too, but Gallup’s return boosts the Cowboys, who are also able to run the football.

Cowboys 20, Commanders 16

Being outscored 46-0 in the first half of their last two games is beyond excuse and raises questions about how well the players are prepared by Washington’s coaching staff.

Does anyone recall how the Dallas front seven schooled Washington in both games last season?
