Prediction for Scotland vs England: Gregor Townsend's in-form side can edge Calcutta Cup showdown

Check out our 11/10 prediction for Scotland vs England below

Scotland are 9/1 outsiders to win their first Six Nations championship of the 21st century but that price will come crashing down if Gregor Townsend's side can beat England in Saturday's Calcutta Cup showdown.

This is a Calcutta Cup clash that could have a major bearing on the destination of the Six Nations. It's going to be a tough competition for whichever side loses and a real springboard for the side that takes the points.

The hosts have won three of the last four Calcutta Cup contests and they look the value at 21/20 with Grosvenor Sport to inflict further damage on Eddie Jones' side, who are tight enough at 7/10.

Scotland are a side in good form having won three of their four matches in the Autumn Nations Series, including a magnificent 15-13 victory over Australia at Murrayfield.

The Scots have nothing to fear from an England side that won just two matches in last year's Six Nations and who head to Edinburgh without some key players, notably injured captain Owen Farrel, his deputy Courtney Lawes, as well as the the likes of Manu Tuilagi, Jonny May, Sam Underhill, Anthony Watson and Jonny Hill.

Eddie Jones' side have shown a noticeable lack of discipline in the last 18 months, giving away 69 penalties in last year's Six Nations. If Scotland can create sustained periods of pressure, the hosts are very likely to force England into errors that could ultimately cost them the game.

England's wily head coach has, rather predictably, tried to deflect attention away from his side by claiming that Scotland are 'red-hot favourites' but his tactics could very easily backfire.

Prediction for Scotland vs England

With conditions set to be pretty grim in Edinburgh on Saturday, this could easily develop into a tight, tactical affair and the hosts superior discipline could easily swing matters their way.

Given the visitors unsettled preparation, this might just be the perfect time for Gregor Townsend's in-form side to catch England and the hosts are a a tempting outright bet at 21/20.

However, with conditions unlikely to be conducive to free-flowing rugby, a points bet looks the way to go. The 11/10 about Under 32.5 points with Grosvenor Sport is pretty appealing.

Prediction for Scotland vs England: Under 32.5 points - 11/10
