Check out our 23/20 prediction for Rangers vs Borussia Dortmund on Thursday
Rangers created history last week by becoming the first Scottish side to win in Dortmund but it will count for very little if they can't finish the job off by securing their place in the last 16 of the Europa League for a third successive season.
A quite stunning 4-2 victory at Signal Iduna Park means that the Scottish champions are a short as 33/100 with Grosvenor Sport to qualify for the next round, while Dortmund are are 11/5 to turn this tie around having been red-hot favourites to progress just seven days ago.
A two-goal cushion puts the Gers in a very strong position but it is worth noting that Dortmund look set to be strengthened by the return of Erling Haaland, who missed the first leg. The Norwegian superstar is unlikely to be anywhere near peak fitness having only returned to full training on Monday but that doesn't mean he isn't capable of hurting Rangers.
The sheer power directness of Haaland has devastated some of the best defences in Europe but Rangers are no mugs at Ibrox - indeed quite the opposite. The Gers have won their last NINE home matches (all comps) without conceding a single goal and they restricted Dortmund to just four efforts on target in the whole 90 minutes last week.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side haven't lost a game at Ibrox since August and although the opposition has been of a lesser quality than the German Cup holders, it's fair to say that Rangers don't have a great deal to fear from Dortmund given what we saw last week.
Dortmund bounced back with a 6-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the weekend but the visitors have been shipping goals for fun on the road this season so it probably isn't worth going overboard about that domestic success.
Dortmund's inconsistency is quite something. They have drawn just one of the 34 games they have played this season and have lost three of their last six in all competitions.
Prediction for Rangers vs Borussia Dortmund
This could very easily go wrong for Rangers, especially if they concede early, but Ibrox is going to be rocking and the passionate home support can drive their side through to the next round.
The presence of Erling Haaland is likely to tempt many into thinking that this could go the same way as the first leg and be another feast of goals but he's not going to be match sharp and he might not have the impact on this game that Dortmund are hoping for.
Rangers are too short to back to go through but we can get the hosts onside in the Double Chance market and that looks an appealing play in what is not an easy game for punters.
