Predict rest of Bolton Wanderers' season as slim play-off hopes with Portmouth & Ipswich Town

Bolton Wanderers have eight games left to go of their season and are aiming to pick up as many points as possible in their now slim looking hopes of reaching the League One play-offs.

Wanderers sit 11th in the third tier of English football at present, a solid and commendable effort bearing in mind Ian Evatt's side were promoted out of League Two last season.

They have eight games left to go of their campaign, with the latest of these being on Saturday when they take on basement side Crewe Alexandra.

Of late, Wanderers have been on a late charge with the aim of reaching the play-offs in their first campaign back in the third tier of English football.

However, a defeat against fellow top six hopefuls Plymouth Argyle last weekend, coupled with results from midweek encounters in the division, has left Evatt's side 11 points from the play-offs.

They have eight games left to go in their season and with the gap now back in double figures, Wanderers are considered more outsiders for the play-offs this campaign.

So how far up the table can Wanderers finish and perhaps, just perhaps, get themselves back in the conversation for the play-offs, should the opportunity present itself via good form from themselves and taking advantage of rivals dropping points.

Portsmouth and Ipswich Town are two other sides directly above Wanderers in the table seeking to reach the play-offs, while the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United.
