Panama struck by powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake as nine countries issued tsunami warnings

Panama

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of Panama on Friday at a depth of 12.6km (7.8 miles), the US Geological Survey said.

Some buildings were damaged, but the critical Panama Canal trade waterway was not affected.
