A terrifying tornado tears through a town levelling homes and buildings in seconds in incredible drone footage shot from above.
The twister touched down near Wichita, Kansas, in the US, before moving towards the city of Andover.
A storm chaser caught the moment it tore through the town of around 15,000 people on video, showing the destruction it delivers in moments as homes are swept into its vortex.
Based on the damage survey completed by the National Weather Service, it is believed to have been an EF-3 rated tornado- the third highest rating.
Its winds are thought to have reached 165mph.
Incredibly, despite the severe damage dealt to the town - once the home of Hollywood’s Kevin Schmidt- no one was killed with a handful of injuries.
Stormchaser Reed Timmer shared the powerful video in Twitter, writing: “Highest-res drone footage of the Andover, KS #tornado which has received a preliminary rating of EF3.
“Note how the tornado propagates via vortex dynamics and likely terrain.
“Incredibly, no lives were lost by this tornado.”
One shocked viewer replied: “This is hands down the most terrifying video of a tornado I've seen in my life.
“The way it just glides over houses tearing them apart in seconds makes me uneasy.”
One resident of Andover replied: “Weekly tornado sirens tested weekly here.
“Most people have weather warning alert apps on their phones. Majority of homes have basements. Early reports through the day said conditions were ripe for tornadoes later.
“Technology saves lives.”
Resident Alaina Adkins told CNN that she took shelter in her neighbour's basement as the tornado approached.
She said: “I just couldn't believe it. It just didn't look real.
“We stepped out of our front door, and it was coming straight to our place.”
The last tornado to blast through Andover was in April 1991 when an EF5- meaning speeds between 261 and 318mph- ripped through the town.
Thirteen residents were killed and more than 1,000 were left homeless as 300 homes were destroyed, as well as ten businesses and two churches.
Fire chief Chad Russell said: “The city of Andover will be affected by this for years.
“We had many buildings in Andover take very tough damage, some homes were completely blown down.
“We still have scars from 1991. I’m so thankful this tornado was not as bad as that, but we will literally be doing this for years.”
The deadliest tornado in history hit in March 1925 and travelled 219 miles across Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. It killed 695 people.
