Poundland has announced that shoppers will soon be able to buy fresh meat and fish at its stores from as little as £1.
The budget store confirmed plans to start selling fresh produce under its new 'Cookit' range. It will include ribs, steaks, bacon, sausages, mince, salmon and cod fillets marked at low prices. The new range is set to hit the shelves from this week and will be in around 350 stores by autumn.
The news comes as food bills slowly creep up, with grocery inflation now at 12.6% according to latest Office for National Statistic figures. Meanwhile, last week's announcement that the cap on energy bills would be rising by 80% in October means more people are worrying about choosing between heating and eating, reports The Mirror.
