There's a shift in the air in early September. While the weather still may be warm, I always feel a change, a feeling that fall isn't too far off.
End of summer is also the time that all my favorite stores drop their fall collections, so clearly I am not the only one who starts to wish for crisper, cozier weather. Come early September I like to slowly switch my home decor out – changing summer shades for deeper, warmer hues, switching stripes and florals for gingham and fall prints, and putting away lighter fabrics and bedding for heavier throws and more layers.
So for me, now is the perfect time to get shopping for new fall decor and the Pottery Barn Fall Collection that has just launched is my first point of call.
The H&G edit of Pottery Barn's 2024 Fall Collection
The new arrivals section of Pottery Barn is filled with gorgeous fall decor in soft rusty hues, subtle prints and tactical fabrics. I have scrolled through everything in the new launch and these are my top picks that are perfect for adding a touch of coziness to every room.
This is resin, not the real thing, but it certainly looks very realistic. It gives that cozy mountain cabin vibe in an instant and would work perfectly as a centerpiece during hosting season, or on a sideboard as part of a seasonal display.
Throw pillows are the first thing I switch out when the seasons change. They are a small, affordable change you can make that can cozy up your living room or bedroom in an instant. The subtle floral print and warm colors, plus the reversible design tick a lot of boxes for me.
I've tried to bring in real fall foliage before, and while the display looks lovely for a few days, it isn't long before the leaves drop and I am left with some sad-looking twigs and a pile of dead leaves on the floor. This faux Oak option creates exactly the same look but lasts far longer and can be brought out year after year.
Throws and quilts are also a really easy switch to make to cozy up any room for the change in season. These best-selling quilts are made from super soft cotton chenille so have that really velvety feel. There is nine colors to choose from too.
Fall means candles, and this candle holder would add rustic charm to any surface. There are two sizes, this shorter one and a taller design. I like both grouped together to create a vignette.
Love the vintage vibes of this throw, it so reminds me of an old one I have inherited (without the musty smell). It's also reversible, with a floral print on the other side so you can switch the look of your bedding around in an instant.
Maybe it's slightly early for pumpkins on your porch, but on your glassware? I think that goes. These are subtle enough to be used from now all the way through to Thanksgiving. Whimsical but chic, which is how I like all my more obvious fall decor to be.
I would put this on my table for end-of-summer/Labor Day parties as the block print has the potential to feel quite summery. But I also think with some more layers and fall tablescaping it's the perfect base for a Thanksgiving table too.
These chargers combined with the tablecloth would create a lovely fall table. The pumpkin design adds a touch of whimsy but the rattan feels chic and casual.
Toile has been a huge trend this year and we have seen a lot of it over spring and summer. But here it's had an autumnal overhaul and this bedding brings in moodier, earthy tones. I love updating my bedding with the seasons, it's one of the simplest ways to make your bedroom feel instantly cozier and ready for the cooler months.
Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of faux plants and flowers I think so many options look too plasticky. However, hydrangeas are one of the few flowers I have faux options of because I think they are quite easy to replicate, unlike more delicate flowers. I have the white hydrangeas from Pottery Barn and definitely added this 'turning' version to my basket to switch out for fall.
For such a luxurious faux fur blanket I think this is a bargain price. It's available in three lovely natural hues too – the perfect way to update a bedroom or living room for fall.
Pottery Barn's Fall Collection is only going to get bigger, and I can see some of their iconic Halloween pieces sneaking onto the site too, so plenty more to come as we get further into fall. For now, I think these pieces are perfect for a transitional update, a little nod to fall in the last few weeks of summer.
