Postecoglou Spurs approach for Kennedy & Strachan 'given cold-shoulder by Celtic'

Ange Postecoglou has reportedly been forced to wait on a decision over John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan being allowed to follow him to Tottenham.

The former Celtic manager signed a four-year deal with Spurs this week and was keen to take his trusted colleagues with him to North London.

However, it's claimed Celtic have given the "cold shoulder" to an official approach from Tottenham.

The Daily Record report Postecoglou's new employers have made contact with Celtic over approaches to sign Strachan and Kennedy to their backroom team.

But it's claimed the official approach has not been agreed at this point with Spurs having to wait for an answer before negotiations can take place.

It's thought Strachan and Kennedy are keen to make the move to the Premier League club but it would first require permission from Celtic and a compensation package to be agreed.

With progress cuirrently delayed, it's claimed Postecoglou could move on to appoint different coaches to his backroom team if there is no answer soon.

Ryan Mason is set to remain at Spurs as a coach under Postecoglou, the report also states.

The report comes after Postecoglou gave his first address to the Tottenham support following his appointment.

He said: "Hi everyone, it's great to finally get started as manager of this great football club.

"I'm really looking forward to the task ahead. I think it's a really exciting opportunity for us to now set off in a new direction to play football and create an environment that embodies the values and traditions of this fantastic football club.

"Hopefully a team that you can all be proud of and more importantly get excited by, I can assure you that right through pre-season we won't leave any stone unturned, myself, the staff, the players, to make sure that when the league comes around you'll all be as excited as I am about the season ahead.

"I really look forward to seeing everyone at the stadium in particular at our first home game, and I look forward to the journey ahead."
