'Positive' Evangelos Marinakis chat revealed after Nottingham Forest draw with Man City

Head coach Steve Cooper was pleased Nottingham Forest managed to clinch a positive result in front of owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The Greek businessman was in the stands at the City Ground to watch Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City. He leapt out of his seat and punched the air when Chris Wood bagged the equaliser which secured a crucial point for the Reds.

Afterwards, Cooper and Marinakis took time to chat, with the Forest boss apologising profusely for being late to his post-match press conference as a result. The pair had plenty to talk about after an eighth Premier League match unbeaten at the City Ground.

“Generally, he was pleased. We didn’t just discuss the game, but some other stuff as well,” said Cooper.

“It’s great he was here. We like it when he comes, and we’re pleased when we get a positive result for him. He’s shown massive commitment to the club for years and years, so he deserves a positive atmosphere and result.

“We had a good discussion about a number of things, all fairly positive. We’ve just got to work hard now for everybody.”

The Reds have not lost on home turf since being beaten by Fulham in mid-September. They sit 13th in the table, five points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United, who they face this weekend.
