Portsmouth Standoff as Hundreds Block Road in 'Stop the Boats' Protest After 140 Migrants Brought Ashore

Around 140 people were brought ashore in Portsmouth after an overcrowded small boat was intercepted off the Hampshire coast, prompting a protest in which hundreds of demonstrators blocked a main road near the waterfront.

Around 500 people were reported to have gathered in Eastney, with large crowds blocking Fort Cumberland Road close to the shoreline.
