Tottenham Hotspur have "politely declined" Portsmouth's request for extra tickets for the FA Cup third round match between the two teams next month.
Spurs welcome the League One side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday January 7 and it looks set to be played in front of a big crowd with both clubs selling plenty of tickets. Portsmouth asked for more tickets for their travelling fans but were turned down by their hosts.
"Following the sale of all 8,880 tickets for Pompey’s Emirates FA Cup third round tie in the new year, the club contacted Tottenham Hotspur to enquire whether an extra allocation could be provided," read a statement from the Football League club. "This request was politely turned down by our hosts, with tickets also selling well among Spurs fans."

The tickets are selling well for the cup clash as Tottenham fans look forward to the return of club football with their next two home Premier League matches against Aston Villa on New Year's Day and the North London Derby against Arsenal on January 15 both sold out.
The Portsmouth match will also bring with it transport problems though due to rail strikes as nationwide industrial action by RMT union on the day will affect rail services across the country, including Greater Anglia and London Overground.
No London Overground services will be running through White Hart Lane. London Underground services are not affected by the industrial action and the Victoria line is expected to operate every three minutes in both directions throughout the day.
