Port, Kirins claim convincing triumphs

Muang Thong's Sardor Mirzaev (second right) vies with Prachuap's Chinnawat Wongchai, right, last night.

Port and struggling former champions Muang Thong United were the big winners in Thai League 1 battles on Sunday night.

While Port tamed 10-man Sukhothai 3-1 with ease, the Kirins relieved some pressure on their coach Mario Gjurovski with a 5-0 home win over PT Prachuap.

Muang Thong were literally assured of three points in the first half which saw Henri Anier, Wongsakorn Chaikultewin and Sardor Mirzaev score for the hosts. Lucas Rocha and Pumin Kaewta added two more to the tally in the second half.

At Thung Thalay Luang Stadium, Port started well and went ahead following a solo effort from Negueba in the 38th minute.

Sukhothai equalised when Osman Sow converted a penalty, awarded after Port's Kewin Deeromram committed a foul on Sila Srikampang inside the box.

Port didn't take long to regain the lead with Hamilton Soares heading home a Pakorn Prempak cross shortly after the break.

The hosts were left with 10 men after Japanese Ryohei Arai picked up his second card of the match and was sent off in the 66th minute. This allowed Port to claim their third goal in the 80th minute through Bordin Phala.

Also on Sunday night, hosts Ratchaburi and Chonburi played out to a 1-1 draw.

On Saturday night, Buriram United dropped precious points following a 1-1 draw at Khon Kaen and Lampang were beaten 3-1 by visiting Police Tero.
