Porn star Stormy Daniels has said she is celebrating Donald Trump's indictment and is receiving countless messages of "support and love".
Ms Daniels thanked everyone who reached out to her after it emerged that Trump has formally been charged after an investigation into hush money paid to her.
She said she has received so many messages that she can't respond and cheerfully added, "also don't want to spill my champagne" prompting enthusiasm for the outcome of the investigation and her role in it.
The exact charges against Trump have not been publicly revealed as of yet.
In a post on Twitter, Ms Daniels wrote: "Thank you to everyone for your support and love! I have so many messages coming in that I can't respond...also don't want to spill my champagne #Teamstormy merch/autograph orders are pouring in, too! Thank you for that as well but allow a few extra days for shipment."
The actress also hosted a live Q&A session on her Only Fans page. Promoting the online event, she wrote on Twitter: "This is going to be entertaining. Get your questions ready."
She went on to write that participants in the event will hear her answers “straight from the horse’s mouth" -- a likely reference to Trump calling her "horseface".
Trump is expected to appear before the court as early as on Tuesday next week.
The grand jury in Manhattan had been probing hush money payments at the height of the 2016 presidential campaign to two women who alleged sexual encounters with the former president.
Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, one of the witnesses who testified, says he orchestrated payments totalling $280,000 to porn actor Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to violating federal campaign finance law in connection with the payments.
Federal prosecutors said the payments amounted to illegal, unreported assistance to Trump’s campaign, but they declined to file charges against Trump himself.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office appeared to be investigating whether anyone committed crimes in arranging the payments, or in the way they accounted for them internally at the Trump Organization.
But the specific charges remain under seal as of now. Quoting two sources familiar with the case, CNN reported that Trump has been charged with more than 30 counts related to business fraud.
It is the first time in American history that a current or former president has faced criminal charges, but it is not expected to stop him from carrying on his presidential campaign.
Trump will be taken through the typical practice of being mugshot and fingerprinted, however, the constitution doesn't bar him from running for US President in 2024, even if he is convicted.
If anything, it could boost his performance at next year's elections, as he will use the prosecution in his communication strategy, experts have claimed.
