Popular vegan café Glasvegan reopens as new owner introduces himself

It's the news that vegans in Glasgow have been waiting for, one of the city centre's much-loved plant-based cafes has re-opened under new management.

Previous owner Arita Bereza, who made the 'devastating' decision to step away and had been set to close the eatery for good, has instead handed the reins to Glasvegan in St Enoch Square over to fellow plant-based lifestyle lover Tyler Lewington, who recently moved to the city from Orkney.

Tyler has announced that after a short period closed, the popular eatery has reopened on Friday, January 20, with opening hours posted as Sunday to Thursday 9am-6pm and Friday and Saturday 9am-7pm going forward.

Tyler, who had already confirmed that the café will keep its name, posted on Facebook introducing himself, stating: "I wanted to introduce myself to you all so on opening day you can put a face to the name. My name is Tyler and I’m the new owner of The Glasvegan, I have been a regular customer for years and have enjoyed many a Mac and cheez (just like the rest of you I imagine).

"I have worked in hospitality for over a decade and have always dreamt of having a place of my own. The process has been a bit of a whirlwind so far and I’ve been working my hardest these past few weeks to get the cafe open in time to celebrate Veganuary with the rest of the city.

"I’m incredibly honoured to be the person taking The Glasvegan into its next chapter and I cannot wait to see all your smiley faces very soon."

He added that he is delighted and thankful to the team he is building, including some veteran Glasvegan employees, stating that there are still some vacancies to be filled, with those looking for roles within the cafe able to email their CV to Tyler and a bit about them to contact@theglasvegan.co.uk.

The excited new owner finished up by stating: "I can’t wait to be a part of Glasgow’s vibrant vegan scene. Again thank you for all your support, as a first-time business owner I sincerely appreciate all the well wishes in this exciting new adventure."
