Popular tattoo artist suddenly dies just days before his wedding

Tributes have poured in for much-loved tattoo artist who suddenly died just days before his wedding. Paul Weston, 57, had been looking forward tying the knot with fiancée Tracy on Friday, September 2.

But less than two weeks before the big day, the great-grandfather tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Sunday, August 21, Birmingham Live reports. His sad passing has left his family and friends devastated - as well as the many clients he tattooed at Inkspot in Blackheath.

His heartbroken partner Tracy, 42 says he was dad to three children Sarah, Stephen and Emma as well as a grandad and great-grandad. He was also a stepdad to Tracy's five children.

Paul and Tracy had been together for about two years and were due to marry at the Holiday Inn in Chapel Lane, Great Barr. Paul had a "heart of gold" and had been a tattoo artist for over 30 years, Tracy said.

She added: "We met via Facebook, we were going to be friends then he took me out for a meal and it went from there. It was one of those that when you know, you know.

"He was a lovely person, he had a heart of gold, he'd do anything for anybody. I've got five children and he got on really well with them. All of my kids are devastated.

"He had a cardiac arrest, he had a pace maker previously. We'd gone out on the Saturday night and we'd come back and he went to the toilet and came back into the bedroom and didn't feel well, it was quite quick.

"Even though he had a pace maker there was nothing wrong with him. He enjoyed riding his motorbike. Some of his mates are going to come to his funeral on motorbikes."

Paul's funeral will take place at Rowley Regis Crematorium on September 22 at 1pm. Close friends are invited to ride their motorbikes from their home, while others wanting to join in can ride from the tattoo shop to the crematorium.

"He was an amazing man and he's going to be missed by everybody who knew him - plus his five cats," Tracy added. "We got engaged on October 17 last year, everything was paid for the wedding.

"My kids changed my name to Weston by deed poll, I got a letter the day before we were due to be married."

Paul's brother Keith and his sister-in-law Pam said: "Paul you will be very sadly missed not just as a brother and brother-in-law, but also as a best friend. Rest in peace." His brother Mark and his sister-in-law Kaz added: "He will be missed dearly."
