A popular East Lothian restaurant has announced its surprise closure amid concerns the building may be sinking into the ground.
The owners of Giancarlo’s Italian said “subsidence” had forced an inspection of their home on Tranent’s High Street.
Safety chiefs raised issues over the foundations potentially slipping further into the pavement.

The eatery, which quickly built a loyal following after opening, is now set to close for the “foreseeable future,” with diners who have booked contacted in regard to cancellations.
No indication has been given over if or when diners may be welcomed back.
"It is with deep regret, that Giancarlo's Italian shall be closed for the foreseeable future," bosses wrote in a statement on social media.
"As our customers are already aware, we have been having lots of problems with the building itself. The problems unfortunately continue.
"We are now suffering from subsidence and the building is unsafe in parts.
"Until this problem is rectified entirely, it is with great sadness we must close."
Subsidence is caused by uneven ground beneath a building sinking due to a lack of moisture in the area, either caused by natural or human activity.

They added: "We shall contact customers in due course regarding any future bookings. Please bear with us during this time as we have a lot to organise.
"We thank you for your understanding and patience."
