Popular restaurant encourages Fringe visitors to Leith with tram discounts

A RESTAURANT is encouraging people attending the Edinburgh Fringe festival to venture outside of the city centre by reimbursing the cost of tram tickets.

Askr, a fine dining restaurant in Leith, is reimbursing both single and return tram tickets to the area when customers present them on payment.

With the vast majority of Fringe venues located in the city centre, the restaurant hopes it can encourage tourists to explore the Leith area, which is renowned for its independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

Located just steps from The Shore tram stop, Askr is helmed by chef Dan Ashmore.

The restaurant specialises in coal-fired cooking which incorporates local meat, seafood and produce.

During the festival period, the restaurant is open with extended hours: from 12pm-late Thursday to Saturday and 5pm-late on Tuesday and Wednesday.
