A pub has been given a £200,000 facelift by the Craft Union Pub Company - the current title holder of the Best Community Pub Operator. The Oxford in Bulwell has been spruced up with a new look inside and out.
Described as "the epitome of a community pub with the best in hospitality, entertainment and live sport," The Oxford, in Highbury Road, has a jam-packed events schedule, with something planned for every night of the week. Entertainment includes bingo, free pool, open mic nights and DJs.
The investment also brings a relatively new face behind the bar. Pub operator Kate Phillips joined The Oxford a couple of months before the revamp.

She said: "I am so excited about this new chapter at the pub. Our new warm and friendly look has given the pub a new lease of life. When I moved to Bulwell, it was only supposed to be for two weeks, but that all changed when I fell in love with the area with this pub. I cannot wait to get to know our local community more.”
With the latest in audio-visual technology, punters can catch all the sporting action on BT Sport and Sky across several TV screens around the pub. With a new pool table and illuminated darts board, they can also enjoy some friendly competition over a drink or two.
Kate added: “We’ve got a fantastic schedule of entertainment on offer here. Between our events throughout the week to our live sport, there really is something for everyone. I cannot wait to work with the community in supporting local events and causes in the coming weeks and months.”
