A cult Leeds sports bar has announced its closure.
Golaccio, which has earned rave reviews since opening, has shut its doors of the Great George Street venue for good. Dedicated to 1990s Italian football, Golaccio had become a popular Leeds city centre venue for watching live sport on TV with their quizzes becoming stuff of legend.
On the walls, visitors would find classic football shirts from legendary Italian clubs and memorabilia. Golaccio’s closure was announced on their Instagram account.

They posted: “A massive happy new year to everyone who has come into the pub and enjoyed watching some random Serie A game from 1994. A bit of an update, we have finished our pop up in Leeds.
“We have plans for 2023 and hopefully we can get a permanent venue. So, it’s goodbye to Leeds from myself and all of our staff. Keep a lookout for our next place. It could be in a city near you.”
Many regulars responded to the post with sadness but wished the Golaccio team good luck for the future. We saw sergiboi90 post: “Looking forward to seeing the next one.” While retrofootballshirtsltd added: “Happy new year, hope to see you again soon.”
