Popular Italian airport closed for third straight day amid Mount Etna volcanic activity

Catania airport has suspended its flights once again due to ash coming from Mount Etna amid ongoing volcanic activity.
The Sicilian airport also halted all flights on Saturday and Sunday, with flights now suspended for a third straight day.
Catania airport is the fifth-busiest in Italy by passenger traffic, but it has been confirmed there will be no flights on Monday before 21.59 GMT.
Mount Etna ash has caused havoc with travel to and from Catania airport over the summer, as the airport was forced to stay shut for five straight days last month.
Mount Etna is Europe’s highest and most-active volcano, and it has disrupted travel for thousands of passengers across the summer.
