One of the best-known pubs on the northside of Cork has pulled its last pint, with the Baker Street Bar in Gurranabraher calling time for the last time over the weekend.
However, the owners say they will not be joining the list of many Cork hospitality businesses which have either given up the ghost or come under new management in the time since the start of the pandemic.
The bar is the latest business in Cork to decide on a big change - and the owners say they will be expanding their off-licence and shop into the section of their premises that had been the pub, to offer locals a wider selection of food, drink and other lines.

That move has been welcomed by locals - but many regulars took to social media to say they'd miss the pub and the staff who had made it a 'very welcoming place' and 'great craic' since social life started to return to normal after the long lockdowns, Cork Beo reports.
The owners have reassured locals that they will continue to serve with their now expanded shop and office - a welcome development for the wider community on the northside after recent closures of some well-known businesses.
The premises on Baker Road next to the Credit Union will now be getting an extensive refit.
