Popular Edinburgh bar announces closure as works gets underway on new venue space

A favourite on Leith Walk, bar, restaurant and live venue Leith Depot has announced that it is set to close over a number of dates over the next few weeks to work on an exciting new events space.

The popular venue posted on social media that it working to create brand new, and fully accessible venue space that is set to open this month.

Speaking about the work, the team wrote: "Folks we’re delighted to share the news that we will have a brand new, and fully accessible venue space officially opening, on Thursday 19th of January. Lineup announced shortly.

"And we’ve got lots of great events booked up for 2023, including Independent Venue Week at the end of this month."

However, to complete the works in time for the January 19 opening date, they added that they will be closing for several dates over the next two weeks.

They confirmed that they would be closed on:

  • Monday, January 9 to Thursday, January 12
  • Sunday, January 15 to Tuesday, January 17

While the bar only would be open on the following dates:

  • Friday, January 13 to Saturday, January 14 - Bar only from 5pm
  • Wednesday, January 18 - Bar only from 12pm

They added that should all of the works be completed by Thursday, January 19, then normal service would resume with the bar, food, and venue.

Fans flocked to congratulate them, with one writing: "Congratulations, great news after all the challenges of the last few years."

While another added: "What totally and utterly fabulous news!"

And they've just announced the first two events they will be hosting in the new space with local singer Callum Easter and a special guest performing on Thursday, January 19 (tickets priced at £10pp and available from the eventbrite website) and Vitamin C, a new monthly night of live music and DJs with Vic Galloway (BBC Radio) and Andy Wake (The Phantom Band) taking place on Friday, January 20 - tickets priced at £8pp and available from the eventbrite website.
