Popular Edinburgh bakery Kilted Donut opening new store at city centre location

Popular Edinburgh bakery Kilted Donut are to open a new city centre store in one of the capital's most popular areas.

Despite the sad closure of their store on Great Junction Street, Leith, the team have announced that they will once again have two venues in Edinburgh when their newest location in the Grassmarket opens next month.

Taking to Instagram to announce the news to their fans, the bakery said that their new store will open in November, and more updates will follow soon, along with an artist's impression of their new branding.

Kilted Donut have become a favourite among foodies with a sweet tooth in the capital, offering a variety of ring and filled doughnuts with weird and wonderful toppings and fillings.

Earlier this year, the team said that they could not keep their Leith store open any longer due to rising costs and staffing issues. The team also have a store in the Stockbridge area that remained open.

To mark their final day in the shop, dozens of free doughnuts were being dishes out to customers if they arrived before they all sold out. Taking to Instagram this time round to announce the exciting new addition, they said: "Grassmarket here we come!!! We just couldn’t keep it in any longer, our new shop will be opening in Grassmarket this November!!!!!

"A huge thanks to @studioso_design & @lucidblack_ltd for all the interior/exterior work and @concerncreate for our new branding. Keep an eye on our social for the opening date."

The handcrafted doughnuts are changed up every week to keep customers guessing. Some of the flavours that Kilted Donut offer are Crème Brule, fudge brownie, maple bacon, raspberry lemonade and cookie explosion.
