Popular Dublin menswear store hailed as 'legendary' after they accept 15-year-old voucher

A well-known Dublin shop has been hailed as "legendary" after an extraordinary act of kindness involving an old gift voucher.

The Louis Copeland & Sons shop located on Capel Street in Dublin city centre accepted a 15-year-old voucher from a customer for €250 off a suit from the flagship store "with a smile". Taking to Twitter, Paul O'Kane explained how the voucher was lost for 15 years, before it was found and accepted in recent days by the tailors at Louis Copeland.

He wrote on Twitter: "This voucher is almost 15 years old. I reckoned I’d lost it, but then it turned up in a box. It moved house with us & was mislaid again. Despite being older than 2 of my children,@louis_copeland accepted it with a smile. Proper shop, wonderful service."

The ancient voucher stated that it could only be used in the Capel Street store, and there was no expiration date on it. The staff at Louis Copelands on Capel Street graciously accepted the voucher, leaving the customer and Irish Twitter users absolutely delighted.

Many social media users praised the well-known family run business for their act of kindness. One person wrote: "Good on Louis Copeland on Capel Street for doing this. Legendary shop and people."

A second commented: "Louis Copeland-quality products and quality service." A third added: "That’s lovely, I’ve a similar story with Seafield hotel in Wexford, voucher was nearly 7years old and they honoured it for me, nice when that happens."

A fourth person said: "Chapter one, did the same for me, 7 years after being gifted a voucher. They were fantastic, and was worth the visit."

Earlier this week, a Centra store in East Wall was praised after it offered to be a safe space for children in emergencies. Children who find themselves locked out of the house, who missed the school bus and have no credit to call their parents, will now be able to call their parents to pick them up by going to their local Centra shop.
