A south Manchester restaurant popular for its ‘cocktails and carbs’ has been named on the UK’s Burger Bucket List. The Laundrette has placed in a list of the top 40 burger joints that people must try across Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.
Ranked by StagWeb - a website service to help plan Stag Dos and weekends - it set out to uncover the best burgers in the UK to help advise stag parties where to grab a great burger. The Beech Road favourite is the only venue in Greater Manchester to appear on the list, though Preston’s ‘We Don’t Give a Fork' also featured.
Steve Roddy, StagWeb’s Director of Operations, said: “We’re on the hunt to unearth the best burgers in the UK to help advise our stags – and the UK as a whole – where to get the best bite on the market. From Cornwall to Inverness, Belfast to Brighton, we’ve handpicked some of our favourites for people to go out and try.

"Whilst it’s all subjective, we’re pretty happy with our Top 40, but if anyone has any other nominations to throw into the mix, we’re all ears."
Singling out The Laundrette, which is still ranked as Manchester's best restaurant on TripAdvisor, StagWeb said: “This Laundrette isn’t what you’d usually expect for a place that washes dirty clothes! Prepare for some unique liquors, creative cocktails, craft beers and some mouth-watering burgers.
“This place covers all areas. Well, apart from cleaning your clothes. Definitely do not bring your dirty clothes!!”
While The popular eatery has six burgers to choose from including a range of vegetarian options, StagWeb chose the Chorizo, Bacon & Pork Burger as their top pick. Made with a pork patty, roasted chorizo, crispy bacon sliced gherkins, roasted pepper and smoked paprika mayonnaise, it's quite the burger.
StagWeb said: “For all you meat-lovin’ legends, you will LOVE this pick. It’s meaty, it’s stacked, it’s smokey and, let’s face it, who doesn’t love chorizo?!
“All the elements come together and taste SO right. Grab one for yourselves and give in to the hype.”
Making sure to cater for veggies as well though, the Caulif KFC Burger was selected as their Veggie Alternative. Made with crispy fried cauliflower, crispy kale, vegan cheese, bloody Mary ketchup and served in a vegan bun, this patty certainly gives the beef burgers a run for their money.
Located on Beech Road in Chorlton, the restaurant and bar is a staple of the suburb's food and drink scene, thanks to its popular carbs and cocktails concept. As well as burgers, The Laundrette also specialises in pizzas, starters such as BBQ baby back ribs, and mains like truffle mac & cheese and fish and chips.
Its hyperbolic cocktails, meanwhile, span originals like the ‘Swipe Right’ made with Chase marmalade gin; twists such as the ‘Marshmallow Colada’; a whole section dedicated to Bloody Marys; and even tipples served in mini bathtubs like the ‘Rockafella’, made with gin, Chambord and peach bitters.
