The search to find the best fish and chips in and around Glasgow can feel like a never-ending quest, with chippies in the centre of the city, the suburbs and even nearby towns and villages claiming their favourites should have the crown.
However, one chippy near the city has just gained national recognition for its incredible fish and chips, helping to add weight to the argument in their favour.
The Fish Works, which is found just under an hour from the city in Largs, has been named as having the 'Best Quality Fish and Chips' in the UK.
The National Federation of Fish Friers picked out seaside favourite The Fish Works in Largs as the winner for the Quality Accreditation category at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.

The organisation said they won the award by "setting the highest standard in fish and chips".
The top Scottish chippy came out on top, beating two other major fish and chip shops, one in Ipswich and another in Colchester - following extensive judging from an anonymous panel of industry experts.
The category celebrates eateries throughout the UK that give their customers the best quality fish and chips.
And it was almost a double win, after they were just pipped to the post in the Takeaway category finishing in third place.
The family-run business, which is run by Largs locals and husband and wife team Ross and Tiffany Irvin, are regular award winners and can now add this title to their numerous other wins.
The other Scottish winner at the Awards was The Real Food Café Tyndrum, who were lauded for their amazing chips, winning the Field to Frier category, which saw them earn the award for their excellence in "potato knowledge, care, and chip preparation".
The awards ceremony, hosted by The National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), was held on, Tuesday, February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London, and was presented by Comedian Jason Manford.
