A popular Chinese restaurant has announced it is to close its doors later this month.
Lychees on Ayr's Miller Road, which specialised in Asian Fusion cuisine, is shutting down after 11 years in the town.
In a message posted on the business' Facebook page, the owners said: "It is with fond memories that we reflect on the first day we opened our doors for business on a very chilly winter November afternoon of 2011.
"We weathered several years of ups and down in our formative years to make 'Lychees' a staple within Ayr's hospitality scene.
"Over a decade of service and through a global pandemic, we have continued to improve, serve and make consistent the humble beginnings of our family owned business; to serve great food with great service for great people.
"We must notify that our doors will close for the last time on Miller Road at the end of service on Sunday 29th May.
"We wanted to give a huge thank you for the support, love and business that our community has given us over the past decade.
"There will be updates regarding this matter in-time in terms of our plans for the future and we will keep you all in the loop as early as we can but for the time being, we hope to see you all for our last hurrah this month!"
The news was immediately greeted with sadness by loyal customers on social media.
Leanna Magee said: "So sorry to hear this! I’ve always had the best meals and service here and me and my family will greatly miss Lychees."
And Pauline Feelie added: "Oh no I'm sorry to hear that, we travel through from Hamilton to go for our meal there, sad days."
