(Picture: POOL/AFP via Getty Images)Former pope Benedict’s heath has been “worsening” in recent days, the Vatican has confirmed, after Pope Francis asked people to pray for his predecessor.
At the end of his customary Wednesday audience with the public in a Vatican auditorium, Francis departed from his prepared remarks to say that Benedict is “very sick” and asked the faithful to pray for the retired pontiff, who is 95 years old.
