With star guard Dejounte Murray out and facing a hostile Boston crowd, not many believed in the Hawks’ ability to win Tuesday night’s Game 5 to extend the series and send the action back to Atlanta.
Apparently, the Hawks’ own home arena was among the doubters.
Trae Young’s heroics and the Celtics’ fourth-quarter collapse kept Atlanta’s season alive—and created something of an awkward situation for the folks who run State Farm Arena. Game 6 will take place Thursday, but, as fate would have it, there was another event scheduled to take place in the building that night: a Janet Jackson concert.
Jackson is currently on her “Together Again” tour, which kicked off earlier this month in Hollywood and runs throughout the U.S. until the middle of June. With the Hawks’ season not yet over, the scheduling conflict thankfully has a solution: Jackson’s concert has been pushed back a day to Friday, Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reported following Atlanta’s 119–117 season-saving win.
Though Jackson’s fans who were planning on seeing the five-time Grammy Award winner perform will likely be disappointed by having to wait a day, now Atlanta-based music and basketball fans will have two can’t-miss events on back-to-back nights. Sounds like a win-win for all involved.
