NEW DELHI: Shopee, the e-commerce arm of the Singapore-headquartered consumer tech company Sea, has decided to fold up its operations in India citing “global market uncertainties” just months after it started onboarding thousands of sellers.
While Shopee’s decision to quit the Indian market comes against the backdrop of the government banning Sea’s gaming app “Free Fire” amidst geopolitical tensions with China, the tech conglomerate pulled out of France, too, on March 6 after its maiden e-commerce foray into Europe.
