BENGALURU: A ground report on two wards in Bengaluru shows that 54 per cent of the streets are poorly lit or unlit in Dasarahalli, while the same is true for 38 per cent of the streets in Hebbal. This was highlighted as one of the top priority areas that need rectification to bring in a safe environment and empower women.
BPAC (Bangalore Political Action Committee), which held the audits in 2022-23 under the B SAFE constituency program to gauge how safe the city was for women, released the report 'B SAFE Constituency Public Place Safety Audit Report' on Saturday.
The audit analysed 298 public places and 29 streets in 12 BBMP wards in Dasarahalli and 8 BBMP wards in Hebbala during June and July 2023. Six categories of public spaces were covered by 20 BSAFE women ambassadors -- 76 Anganwadi Kendras, 92 Bus Stops, 54 Parks, 10 PHCs, seven Police stations, and 35 public toilets.
