• Archaeologists in Pompeii have unveiled a partially reconstructed frescoed ceiling vault, featuring detailed images from Greek mythology.
• The artwork's main theme depicts the union of Cretan princess Ariadne and Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry.
• A curved support structure was created to meticulously place the fresco fragments, allowing for new discoveries to be added as they are found and restored.
• Pompeii, a Unesco World Heritage Site, was buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.
• The latest unveiling follows other significant recent discoveries at the site, including that of a large private bathhouse in 2025.
