MOHALI: The provisional voter turnout figure of 63.1% in the district on Sunday was revised to 66.72% by the Election Commission (EC) on Monday. This made the district go up a notch from the bottom slot that was now taken by Amritsar at 66.16%.
Highest polling of 69.25% was recorded at Derabassi assembly constituency in Mohali district. Kharar came second with 66.17% and Mohali constituency last with 64.76%
In the 2017 assembly elections, Mohali district had polled 71.79%.
The EC said it had earlier released the total polling percentage till 5 pm only on the voting day as the data kept on pouring in late till midnight.
In Derabassi, 1,06,556 males and 92,625 females cast their votes, with a percentage of 70.62 and 67.65. In Kharar, 94,898 males and 81,458 females cast their votes, with a percentage of 67.85 and 64.33. The Mohali constituency saw 82,203 males and 72,584 females cast their votes, with a percentage of 65.92 and 63.51.
