Poll: Trump leads Haley by 26 points in home state

Former U.S. President Donald Trump departs Trump Tower in New York

Former President Trump is leading in a recent poll in South Carolina, with a 26-point gap over former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. However, Haley has managed to narrow the gap by a couple of points in the Monmouth University Washington Post poll. With three weeks left until Super Tuesday, Haley has been actively campaigning in her home state to gain support.

In a recent interview, Haley discussed her strategy for closing the gap and emphasized the need to be competitive rather than winning. She pointed out her record as governor, highlighting accomplishments such as passing tough immigration laws, implementing voter ID laws, and reducing unemployment. Haley also mentioned her ability to work with diverse groups of voters, stating that she can attract not only Republicans but independents and Reagan Democrats as well.

However, Trump maintains an advantage in certain key areas according to the poll. He is trusted more than Haley in handling immigration, the economy, and even on the issue of abortion. These numbers present a challenge for Haley as she seeks to gain traction and narrow the gap further.

Haley countered Trump's advantage by pointing out their differences on several issues. She claimed that Trump supported amnesty for undocumented immigrants, whereas she championed the toughest illegal immigration law in the country. Additionally, she criticized Trump's economic policies, arguing that he had put the country in significant debt during his presidency.

Haley further noted that poll results in swing states show that Americans do not want a rematch between Trump and Biden. She highlighted the importance of inclusivity and bringing together Republicans, independents, and Reagan Democrats to win a majority of the popular vote. She believes that with her ability to appeal to a wide range of voters, she is the candidate who can defeat Biden.

As the race intensifies, Haley vowed to continue her campaign, stating that her mission is to bring unity and stability to the country, rather than perpetuate chaos and division. She brushed off the RNC's attempt to nudge her out of the race, stating that only two states have voted thus far and that she intends to let all 48 states and territories have their say in the nomination process.

With the Super Tuesday deadline approaching, all eyes will be on Haley's campaign and whether she can continue to close the gap and position herself as a strong contender for the Republican nomination.
