A recent poll conducted by AAPI Data and a source revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris is perceived as more effective than former President Donald Trump across various issues by most Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
The poll, conducted from Sept. 3-9, surveyed 1,123 AAPI adults in multiple languages both online and via telephone. It reported a margin of error of 4.7%.
Despite Trump's popularity on certain issues like economics and immigration among other demographics, Harris leads him among AAPI adults by margins of 41%-34% and 42%-35% respectively. She also holds a slight lead on crime at 39%-33%.
On issues such as abortion, race and inequality, and healthcare, Harris enjoys significant support from AAPI adults, leading Trump by wide margins of 65%-16%, 64%-15%, and 59%-19% respectively.
Meanwhile, recent polls suggest that Trump is gaining support from Black men, a demographic traditionally aligned with the Democratic Party. Former President Barack Obama expressed disappointment in the lack of enthusiasm for Harris among Black men, urging them to support her. Obama referenced his own historic victory in 2008 and questioned the hesitancy towards Harris, suggesting it may be related to gender bias.
In response, the Black Men for Trump advisory board criticized Obama's remarks, arguing that support should be based on policies rather than skin color.
Overall, the poll results highlight the diverse perspectives within different demographic groups and the ongoing discussions surrounding political preferences and representation.
