Tánaiste Micheál Martin was in flying form as he took a ride down the slide at Avondale Forest park in Wicklow. Thankfully for the Fianna Fáil leader, he didn’t go flying too far.
The Tánaiste was visiting the site for the official opening of Avondale House. Following a tour of the house and some gentle persuasion from the press, Mr Martin decided to ride down the iconic 15 second slide.
Although he said the slide “slows down too much” at the end, he described it as “fantastic”.
“I’d recommend it. Up you go now,” he told the Irish Mirror. It wasn’t only the Tánaiste who got in on the action. His Garda escort came down first to check things were safe.
Wicklow Ministers Stephen Donnelly and Simon Harris also got in on the action. The Tánaiste was the guest of honour at the official opening of Caoilte’s newly refurbished, Avondale House.
